I would now like to dwell on a characteristic most people possess. It comes naturally, never
taught. I’ve mentioned it already. When problem-solving, the instinctive solution is to
eliminate the cause, resulting in No cause / No problem.
This does not apply to back pain suffered by 80% of the world’s population at some time in
their lives. At any moment 7% {560 million} are suffering. Sitting in a bad posture is universally
accepted as the main cause. All the experts recommend always keeping the spine in perfect
posture when disc pressure is the least possible, thus eliminating the cause. I have already
said this is an impossibility, resulting in all treatments being for symptoms and not the
cause.
After 40 years, and some 30,000 ex-back sufferers now sitting pain free, {back-shop.com},
I have proven conclusively that bad posture is the main cause. I must admit that I was also
guilty of only partially addressing the cause. I am embarrassed that I did not consider the
complete cause by guaranteeing spines are at all times permanently in perfect posture,
not only when seated. I have rectified this omission by inventing the Spinal Scaffold which is
now available worldwide. My photographic technique means that back sufferers anywhere
in the world can receive a Scaffold custom made to the precise perfect posture shape of the
individual spine, proving No cause / No pain, in most cases. (My success rate with sitting is
over 90%. This should now be permanent.)
I suffered back pain for over 40 years, but not when sitting in perfect posture on my custom-made chair. When not sitting the pain would return. I wore my Scaffold for four months at
all times except when sleeping and stopped using it to discover I was completely pain-free. The
jagged tear in my annular ligament, due to the downward force resulting from the spine
being in perfect posture, had closed, chopping off the extruded part of the disc and the
body sending it to waste. That was three years ago. I regret not inventing it sooner as I
expect the same rate of success as when sitting, only this time it would be permanent.
As an engineer, with a degree in mechanical and electrical engineering, I had applied an
engineering approach to solving the problem. The spinal column consists of 24 vertebrae,
one on top of another ( lumber spine 5, thoracic 12, cervical 7 ). These are joined together
by flexible annular ligaments. For simplicity, I will call It a “vertebral box.” A “box” is enclosed
horizontally by the bottom of one vertebra and the top of another. Enclosed within each
“box” is the soft disc, which has an 80% moisture content. I call this the “body’s
suspension system” and compare it with the suspension system in a car which consists of a
coiled spring that gives a smooth ride by absorbing shock forces generated by potholes
and uneven road surfaces. Should the car hit a deep pothole the sudden force could cause
metal-to-metal contact between the coils on the spring. To prevent this happening the
spring has a hydraulic damper attached that prevents metal-to-metal contact.
In the body’s suspension system, the annular ligaments represent the coiled springs in a car,
the discs, the hydraulic damper. The objective is also to absorb vertical forces. However,
bending the spine forward out of its natural elongated perfect posture S shape results in huge pressure being exerted on the discs. For example, say a person 10 stone (140 lbs) in
weight bends forward 10 inches the resultant stress is 10 x 140 = 1400 in. lbs. which is huge.
The Spinal Scaffold prevents this from happening and completely obliterates all stress
because in this position the spine is upright in perfect posture and the calculation is now
140 lbs. x 0 = 0 and the only weight on the spine is 140 lbs,
It is incomprehensible that the medical profession, knowing the cause, did not come up with
a valid solution, apart from recommending always keeping the spine in perfect posture. I
have already said this Is an impossibility and will give you an example. If you are sitting
reading this, and if not, sit down. Now arch your lumbar (lower) spine forward into perfect
posture. Immediately stand up. You can’t. It’s impossible to do so without bending the spine
forward in bad posture. And so the proposed solution is always, No Symptom / No Pain,
ignoring what brought the symptom about, and that it may return. To answer a question
you may have, to stand upright from a seated position when wearing the Scaffold you bend
forward from the hips with the spine still in perfect posture.
No Cause / No Pain is the ultimate solution. It is so obvious and simple that it is amazing it
has not been thought of before.
